Casey's General Stores reported diluted earnings per share of $0.91 for the third quarter, compared to $1.13 per share a year ago. The results were impacted by lower fuel margin and higher operating expenses. Total revenue in the quarter was up slightly to $2.2 billion.
Same-store gallons sold were down 2% in the quarter.
Total sales in grocery and other merchandise category were up 7.1% to $582.4 million.
Same-store sales in the prepared food and fountain category increased 2.8% for the quarter.
Total operating expenses increased 10.5% to $377.3 million.
Casey's is focused on making progress on current initiatives and executing its long-term strategic plan to enhance capabilities and accelerate unit growth.
