American Express reported a strong third quarter with significant revenue growth driven by increased card member spending and high customer engagement.
Total revenues net of interest expense were $13.6 billion, up 24 percent.
Earnings per share increased 9% to $2.47.
Card Member spending was up 21%, driven by growth in both Goods & Services and Travel & Entertainment spending.
The company added 3.3 million proprietary cards in the quarter.
American Express expects full year revenue growth of 23% to 25% and to be above its original full-year EPS guidance range of $9.25 to $9.65.
